William Howard Shuster (1893-1969)

Will Shuster grew up in Philadelphia. Serving in WW I his lungs were severely damaged by mustard gas and upon his return to the states was advised to move to a dry climate.  In 1920, he settled in Santa Fe and became one of the founding members of Los Cinco Pintores. A pupil of John Sloan in etching as well as painting he became a leading  influence in the early art community of Santa Fe.
