Verda Ligon was born in Dallas. She studied at the Detroit School of
Fine Art, Phoenix Art Institute in New York, at S.M.U with Olive
Donaldson and with Thomas Stell. She was a member of the Printmakers
Guild, Dallas Print Society and the Texas Printmakers (founding
member). Beginning her exhibition career in the late 1920’s her
work was chosen for exhibition in the Texas Centennial, The Library
of Congress and the Philadelphia Print Club. A versatile artist
excelling in oils as well as a printmaker, she taught art in public
schools for over forty years.
