Nell Elizabeth Shaw was born in San Angelo. Her art study
included instruction with Xavier Gonzalez, Will Henry
Stevens, Adele Brunet, Olin Travis, George Elmer Browne and
Millard Sheets, studying in San Antonio, Cape Cod,
Berkley and Greece. In 1925 she was at Christoval at
the Texas artists camp studying with Rolla Taylor and Jose
Arpa. She began exhibiting in the 1930’s and exhibited
consistently through the 1960’s. She lived in Midland
before retiring to San Angelo. She was a Heritage member of
the Texas Fine Arts Association and board member of the
Midland Arts Association.
