Mimi Murphey grew up in Dallas near S.M.U. which she attended under
the tutelage of Olive Donaldson. She later studied at the Dallas Art
Institute, the Art Students League and as the protégé of Eugenie
Shonnard. She began exhibiting in Dallas in 1929 and had won her
first award by 1931 in the Dallas Allied Artist annual.
