Mario
Larrinaga was
born in Las Flores, Baja California. He
was an illustrator, painter, and designer. In 1909 he moved to Los
Angeles. He gained a job working for Universal Studios where he
learned the craft of designer, art director, and painter. By 1932 he
was exhibiting at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He was to
exhibit over his long career in numerous prestigious venues. He
picked up work as an illustrator for magazines. He studied at
Chouinard School of Art during 1934-35. After 35 years in the movie
industry, he retired in 1951 and moved with his family to Taos, New
Mexico where he became active in the art community while exhibiting
at the Museum of New Mexico.
