Marie Bruner Haines was born in Cincinnati and
trained as an artist from 1900 to 1917 in at the Art Students
League, Art Academy of Cincinnati, Art Institute of Chicago and
National Academy of Design. She arrived in College Station to live
with her married sister in 1921 where she painted, taught and
exhibited for three decades. After her marriage in the 1950 she
moved to Vermont and painted as Marie Haines Burt. A gifted artist,
her works are valued for both their creative vision and technical
competence.
