A life
long teacher, Lucille Jeffries graduated from Mary Hardin-Baylor
College in Belton in 1931. This small college with a superior art
department was to graduate some of the finest artists in Texas. Her
talents were such that she was given a solo exhibition at the Dallas
Museum of Fine Art prior to attending college. Though her career was
cut short by her untimely death, her printmaking skills raised her
to the highest tier of Texas printmakers. Purchase prize awards,
solo exhibitions and prestigious exhibitions were to mark her career
and assure her legacy.
