Jack C.
Tinkle was born in Center. A World War II veteran, he worked
as a graphic artist for the Air Force Security Service for 35 years
and became one of the principal painters in the Texas
modernist movement after WW II with his showings in the most
prestigious exhibitions in Texas. The San Antonio Art League Museum
awarded Tinkle the Julian Onderdonk Purchase Prize and the Artist of
the Year award three times. His works are included in the
permanent collection of the San Antonio Art League Museum.
