Harriet Phillips
Grandstaff was born in Longview. She studied at Columbia
University, with Vivian Aunspaugh, Frank Reaugh, and in Indiana
with L. O. Griffith. She was a fashion illustrator for major
departments stores. Her illustrations appeared on the cover of
Holland’s magazines (1937 – 1939). In 1940 she began
teaching at the Dallas Art Institute. Member: Frank Reaugh AC;

Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, Canyon 1993. Frank Reaugh
did a pastel drawing of a Texas longhorn across one wall of her
studio and subsequently other artists who visited her studio
home left their art work on her walls. In the 1990’s the owners
of her old home in Dallas removed wall paper and paint while
restoring their home and were surprised to fine these treasures
adorning their home.
