Fred R. Beasley, both artist and illustrator, was
born in 1926 and has lived in both Lubbock and Austin. He was a
member of the Texas Fine AA and the South Pains Art Guild. His work
won prizes in South Pains Art Guild 1957, in 1957 and 1958 in the
TFFA West Texas Regional, and exhibited West Texas Museum
Exhibitions in the 1960’s. He moved to Austin in 1973. His work was
featured in the publication "Art of the Texas Plains" by
Elsie Montgomery Wilbanks. He illustrated Texas! Tejas to
Today in 1972 and First across North America : the Journeys
of Cabeza de Vaca and Estevanico the Black in 1974. His work was
feathered at the Buddy Holly Center: Fine Arts Gallery in Lubbock in
"Mid Century Reliquary," a re-survey of selected artists featured in
"Art of the Texas Plains".
