Elizabeth Harter Walmsley (1900-1993)

Born in Ohio, Elizabeth Walmsley received a degree in architecture before studying  art at Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. She moved to Dallas and taught at Hockaday School before moving to Southern Methodist University (1937-1967). She was chairman of the Art Department from 1956-1965. She excelled as a watercolorist and printmaker. She began her active exhibition career in 1932. Three of her works were exhibited in the 1990 S.M.U. retrospective for the Texas Printmaker Group
