Dale Edward Hamlett was
born in Missouri and studied at Northeast Missouri State
University; American Academy of Art with William Mosby; Academy
of Applied Art, Chicago; Chicago Art Institute with Charles
Wilamoski; University of New Mexico with Ralph Douglass and
Elaine de Kooning; Robert Wood; Milford Zornes; Millard Sheets;
Edgar Whitney; Morris Shubin, Charles Reed; George Post. He was
a commercial artist from 1947 to 1964. From 1964 to 1969 he was
artist-in-residence, New Mexico Institute of Mining and
Technology. He then taught at art at Eastern New Mexico
University, Portales, retiring in 1987, Professor of Art,
Emeritus. A member of the
New Mexico Watercolor Society,
West Texas Watercolor Society; Llano Estacado Art Association,
Pointores Art Association; Las Escalera Art Guild; New Mexico
Art League, he has had an international exhibition with awards
and honors for his acrylics and lithographs.
