Belle Austin was
a descendant of Stephen F. Austin. She was an art student of George
Brandt Bridgeman at the Art Students League in New York and Jean
Mannheim in Pasadena, California. She taught art in Big Spring and
Abilene before moving to Fort Worth where she maintained a studio at
708 Hemphill Street. She exhibited in regional competitions, painted
landscapes, florals, portraits and taught art for over four decades.
