Beatien Yazz, (Bea Etin Yazz) Little No Shirt aka Jimmy Toddy was
born near Wide Ruins, Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. Drawn to
art as a child, he was drawing with crayons at age eight. Sallie and
Bill Lipincott, operators of the Wide Ruins Trading Post, encouraged
him and provided art materials for his creations. He was a Navajo
Code Talker while a Marine Corps in WW II. Following the war, he
returned to the reservation to concentrate on art while supporting
himself as a Navajo policeman, art teacher and finally as a
successful full time artist.
