Alexander Watson Mack
was a painter, sculptor, muralist, and teacher. He was born in
Scotland and studied at the Edinburg, Scotland School of Art,
the Royal Academy in London, with David Alison, Henry John
Lintott, David M. Sutherland, in London, Paris, France, Holland,
Germany, and Italy. He came to the United States in 1925 where
he continued his study and exhibited in Chicago. He then moved
to Lubbock, where he was instructor of drawing at Texas Tech
from 1926 to 1929 while also teaching at the Lubbock School of
Art. He was to open studios in Amarillo and in San Antonio. He
later taught art in Canyon at West Texas State in the summers
between 1931 and 1939 while living in Amarillo. He taught art
from a studio which in maintained in San Antonio between 1934
and 1939. He returned to Europe in 1939 and was twice wounded
during WW II. He returned to live in Canyon in 1946. Member:
